Size Effect in CO Oxidation on Ceria Nanoparticles

Ceria samples with a narrow particle size distribution within the range 2.6-7 nm were synthesized by soft chemistry methods. By Raman spectroscopy and X-ray
diffraction analysis, the dependence of the crystal lattice parameter on the ceria nanoparticle size within this range was determined. A size effect in deep CO oxidation on ceria was detected. It was [...]

Single-crystalline ceria nanocubes: size-controlled synthesis, characterization and redox property

Single-crystalline CeO2 nanocubes were synthesized through a hydrothermal treatment. By varying reaction temperature and the NaOH concentration, the size control of CeO2 nanocubes has been achieved, which produces the nanocubes with a controllable edge length in the regime of 20–360 nm. HRTEM studies reveal that the CeO2 nanocubes expose their high energy {001} planes. Consequently, [...]

Shape-Selective Synthesis and Oxygen Storage Behavior of Ceria Nanopolyhedra, Nanorods, and Nanocubes

Single-crystalline and uniform nanopolyhedra, nanorods, and nanocubes of cubic CeO2 were selectively prepared by a hydrothermal method at temperatures in the range of 100-180oC under different NaOH concentrations, using Ce(NO3)3 as the cerium source. According to high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, they have different exposed crystal planes: {111} and {100} for polyhedra, {110} and {100} for [...]

Structural, redox and catalytic chemistry of ceria based materials

The article gives an overview on the ceria and ceria-based materials describing structural and redox properties. The affect of surface area, dopant and metal-ceria interactions on the reduction characteristics is examined by taking specific examples. The importance of ceria-based materials in heterogeneous catalysis, exhaust catalysis in particular, is highlighted.
В статье дается обзор структурно-чувствительных (в том [...]
